Thank You (update)

Normally at the end of the final review of the year I do a bit of a round-up to say thank you for reading us this year.

Of course because I was finishing past midnight on Friday morning this year, and I was two hours from being yelled at by a baby, and three hours from being woken by a toddler, I forgot. So let me address this now.

It’s a privilege to do what we do and be supported in doing it. Me and Rob are just two nuffies who got frustrated with the lack of in-depth Raiders coverage some seven (7!) years ago, and started jotting down these thoughts. When one piece we did got fifty odd clicks we got super excited. The idea that there’s near 2,500 thousand people who follow us in some form, and check in with us pretty regularly is far beyond anything we ever expected. Back then it was us, the OG’s at the Greenhouse, and the mainstream media to find Raiders content. Now you have more podcasts than I had hours of sleep last night and more content options than the Milk had wins this year.

You could have switched off from Raiders content because the noise was more car crash than symphony. And yet we’ve had our best year yet. You can go anywhere to get your fix, and you still come to us, and that will forever be appreciated. At least as long as we keep doing this gear.

As always, a special acknowledgement has to go to my partner in crime Rob. Not only has he punched out the Rumble each week, he’s the only person capable of editing the stream of consciousness that sometimes emerges from my brain as I write at midnight. He inexplicably has put up with my shit for a long time now, and well, that kind of friendship is treasured. As Rob revealed he won’t be doing the Rumble next year, but he’ll be around. He’ll be making the memes you can find at our twitter and Instagram accounts. They’re mostly Simpsons’ memes because that’s how he and I communicate. He’s got some plans for other contributions as the 2022 season rolls around, so he’s not going anywhere. I don’t think the Rumble will die either – it will just be a new form and a new author.

In the meantime I’m going to keep plugging away. There’s too much stuff happening off the field right now to be quiet. So tell your friends, neighbours and anyone you can get close enough to while social distancing to get on board. It makes me feel like much less of a weirdo when people read the articles. Otherwise I’m just talking to myself in public. If you want to get in contact I try to answer all the DMs sent to us so if anything is pressing I’m just a text box a way. If you’re busy supporting us, we’ll get busy responding as much as possible (sometimes I forget because I start responding then someone small starts crying and well, life takes over. But I try!).

Thank you for being here and thank you for supporting us. It’s been a trash year for everyone both on and off the field. Grey skies are going to clear up, put on a happy face.

Thank you.

Sorry if you got this post twice. I’m an idiot and really tired and can’t do thing good. Do us a solid and like our page on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, or share this on social media. Don’t hesitate to send us feedback or comment below if you think we are stupid. Or if we’re not.

  1. Hi Dan,

May you long continue to add to your incredible body of work.
Your skill in writing the travails of 2021 always impresses.

Thank you so much for what you do. It may be more important for the mentals of we Raiders fans than you can imagine.

My wife and teenage sons look at my Raiders support with bemusement.
In those times when I feel almost overwhelmed with emotion following this stoopid team
I know that I am not alone, and that others are on the ride with me.

No doubt the GM need a long offseason to sort their shit out.
As you’ve said, they display effort and have the talent, but their execution sucks, and structure…what’s that.
That you never know what they’ll do next is part of the morbid fascination, but jeez it’s tough sometimes.

Anyway, have a great weekend with the family, and lets look to the future.

    Up the Milk!

    Rohan McPherson
