Australia and Pakistan Open to Idea of 5 Day Test

After each team has failed to make to the fifth day of any recent test match, Pakistan and Australian cricket have agreed to try and go the full five days in their upcoming test series.

Sutherland wiling to flatten the pitches out for the extra days
“We’re always looking for ways to innovate the game, and we think 5 day tests might be a new frontier. At this time of year, the last thing we want to do is expose the cricketing public to their families any more than necessary” said Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland.

“As we’ve shown in the past, we’re not above providing a deck with less movement than a nursing home to make sure we get what we want.”

Brittle batting line ups combined with excellent bowling have meant both sides have spent more time fishing than playing cricket in recent times, something that both governing bodies have sought to remedy.

“Pakistan is always looking to try new things to improve. Over the years we’ve tried to emulate the Australian sides’ success. Unfortunately, we’ve been more successful at mirroring their inability to deal with a bit of grass on the pitch” said Pakistani coach Mickey Arthur.

“I’ve given the boys a bit of homework to do to fix that though. I’m sure they’ll do it.”
